Skinwalkers (Devildogs)
« on: February 26, 2005, 04:04:14 PM »
I have heard from several Engineers and Conductors about them seeing what the Sioux called Skinwalkers (Railroaders call them Devildogs, why the Marine nomenclature, I have no idea).  I am sure all of you have seen the extremely bright headlights of a train at night.  Anyway, I have heard several railroaders describe seeing a "human looking thing" on all fours running in front of a Locomotive at night between Medicine Bow and Rock River at night.  They say that they see it running right in front of the Head unit, but never hear the "ping" off the plow.  Apparently they say that they have seen them on Sherman Hill (The highest point on the Trans-Continental Railroad) around Vedawoo Road, also.  This is an Area in the Laramie range that the Sioux Shaman went to have their vision quests.  Any of you ever heard of these?

Seems to me like we had someone who works or used to work on railroads post about something similar awhile back. Can't recall the details tho.

Eh, that could have been me, but I heard someone else say it on a train home yesterday, so I thought I would post it.  I apologize for the redundancy, if that is the case.

Hey guy`s :D
As you know I retired from the Railroad, but I havent heard of these things down here. Granted we see some weird things at night on them trains, especially during a midnight run, with a full moon. Other than a mountain lion, walking by the tracks, I guess the weirdest, or I should say one of the weirdest, things, I have seen was, going through Neosho, Missouri, coming down a hill with 114 coal cars loaded with coal behind us, full moon, clear night, and as we was a coming on a curve beside a river, there stood inbetween the tracks, was ---well the best I could describe, -- A hugh, heyena.  Yeah, a heyena, the type like in Africa. But this one was the size of a 110 lb deer. Infact, thats what me and the Engineer thought it was, cause it was looking right at us, till it ran off, thats when we seen it from the side, no more that 20 yards from us. It had a hugh, head, chest, and a very narrow waist. Much bigger than the African cousin of it. We just got to see it for abou 5 seconds, but that what we both saw and how we both described it.

Thanks Matt :D
I went to the thread you posted, and found it very interesting. Especially about the yellow eyes.  Cause if you remeber the story, I put on here about the little bigfoot that he and I had a stareing contest till he ran off,-- he had yellow eyes.
Also the deer hunter that was hunting on my land, that was scared off by something that attacked and killed some turkeys, near his tree stand. He told me it looked like a werewolf.
Out here where I live, rural country, use to be all indian land.
Makes one wonder.

Bulletmaker, I've seen a few things in the outdoors that I was certain were supernatural in origin. You remember my question about bigfoots eye color recently, All the ones I've seen were red. Not a red reflection like and animals eyes.

You mention you live on what was indian land. From 1982 until 1997 I lived on what was historically Indian lands. From 1997 until now I have lived on "the rezz". I'll share one of my sightings if you are interested.

One night I saw what looked like a tall Indian man wearing a floor length feather headdress. He was standing facing away from me so I could only see him from the back quartering slightly away. As I was watching him he turned his head around toward me, and as he turned I could see he had the face of a wolf. He looked at me for a moment, and then turning back away from me preceded to walk into a building through the wall. And I mean through the wall, no door or window was there. I remember no unusual eye color in this incident.

Believe what you want, but thats what I saw, Regards, Byron
