Heres a few tips

1) Do not make eye contact, this is a sign of aggression with apes.
2) Do not show teeth. Also an aggressive sign.
3) Wear earth toned clothes, camo not needed.
4) Display the palm of your hand towards the big monkey. This is a peaceful gesture.
5) Try (!!) not to scream or make odd noises.
6) Have your camera ready, fire off as many pics as you can. Your sighting will last on average, 2 seconds or less. Most people wont react, due to the shock of seeing something that isnt supposed to be there.
7) Dont shoot ... you'll only make him mad.

Try to remember details of the animal, hair color, hair length, any part of the body that looks hairier than the rest, arm length, leg length, eyes, nose, hands, behavior or the animal, how it reacts to you, was it carrying anything ? Eating anything? And please report it to someone !!! ANY report adds to the total data for researchers, patterns of locations, behavior, appearence, all play a big part of the total picture.
9) Remember, if you see one, you've been privy to a unique animal, a fantastic experience, one that you will remember the rest of your life. Your not going crazy, your just Blessed !!!
