Cost of conicals

Does any one else think they charge way too much for conicals?
I've seen .50 cal conicals at Wallyworld for $14.00 for 20!
You can buy loaded centerfire rifle ammo for that.
I'm sure glad I got into casting my own a couple years ago. I bought a Lee combo mould that throws 1 ball and 1 REAL slug at a time for $16.00 and I can make as many as I want.

They are proud of those store bought bullets thats for sure. Like you, I cast my own. It would grieve me to have to buy any. What are you shooting that REAL bullet out of? I shoot a Lyman GPR that really likes them.

The only muzzleloader I have so far is a traditions kentucky in .50.
I got it cheap from a store that special ordered it for some one and then backed out on em. I was surprised how well the REAL slugs shot out of a slow twist rifle, about 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards off a bench. I know thats nothing to brag about but it's good enough for deer hunting which I'm hoping to try this fall. It will be my first muzzleloader deer hunt.

Hope you do well this fall. My first muzzleloader was a Kentucky that I'd put together from a kit in 1975. She was a fine shooter. What area of the woods are you in ksbackwoods?

I'm up in northeast Kansas , about 20 miles west of Topeka.
Do you cast your's out of pure lead?
I've got alot more wheel weights than I do pure lead so I mix them about 50/50 to make them go farther. I can tell they are a little harder but they seem to shoot pretty good that way.

Pretty country up in that neck of the woods. My youngest sister lived and went to college up at Manhattan. So I prowled around up in there from time to time. I cast mine from pure, never have tried mixing it. Tell you what I did do "once" with the REAL, tried casting a few out of WW's.  :-)  Won't do that again. Real pretty bullets but had to run them in with a mallet.
