Rattle Snakes
« on: February 25, 2005, 07:01:45 AM »
I posted about snakes but it must have went to cybor land.
a couple of days ago the temp got to 74 degrees here in the southern Texas Panhandle, so i grabbed my handy rifle and went to my favorite dog town.
I had been there about 30 minutes, the shooting was great, dogs were everywhere, i had my ammo in a 50 cal. ammo box setting on the ground beside me, i was reaching for the box when i noticed movement, it was a baby Rattle snake, now for the ones who have never been around baby rattle snakes, they strike at everything, and i mean everything, i was lucky he was far enough away to have not got me.
I decided i would get my 22 pistol out of the truck and do him in, when i went to get up from my shooting bench was when i noticed snakes everywhere, i had to get up into my shooting chair, then up on my bench and into the back of the truck, i hoped out of my truck far enough away so i wouldnt get struck if one was under it, i also was looking for mom and dad, i killed 8 snakes, so i just wanted to let you boys know the snakes are out, be careful, if going to a dog town cary a snake bite kit, also some cutter or off to spray your pants legs for ticks and chiggers, and fleas, dont lay down in a dog town, check your self when your done shooting to make sure you dont have any ticks or fleas on you, be careful but by all means have fun.

Rattlers are real attention getters.  I just about lost my oats one day after killing a rattler out deer hunting.  I grabbed a bush to pull myself up a rocky slope.  A quail took off out of it giving me a scare.  I thought the snake family was getting even.

I here tell that Wiscott is having a R-snake shoot just before we get there for our p-dog shoot and that way the snakes will really thined out by the time we get there. :-)

Also I think that Wiscott has got some of that new R-snake spray for us. I thinks it works like bug spray does.  :-)

Hay, Wiscott, how about this BS.  I know that the BS is only going to get deeper when we all get there.

96 more days of waiting.  The count down has started
Happy shooting, may you hit what you aim at.
