Did great today.

Well, the weather was rainy and its supposed to turn to snow overnight, so I went out (like an idiot) after some of the local trout. Brought home 4 nice ones using a #14 pheasant tail. I'll try to post some pics later for you all. It was a good way to break up the late winter doldrums.

Dear Flatlander:
Let's see now, no crowds, less brush to snag your backcast, no skeeters, nice overcast day, sounds good so far! Oh, and you say you caught some trout?
Hope you do it again real soon!                  Woodbutcher

Well, it didn't hold up. The good news was that they went into a surface feeding pattern. The bad news was that no one could figure out what they were taking. I hooked into one using a #18 lighter colored dry fly (a callibaetis pattern of some sort, I think), but that was the only one I got. Everyone else had about the same success: 1 fish at best. The water was very clear and there was no wind to speak of, so that made things tougher, too. I will miss this in the spring when we have to go back to bluegills and bass.
