I have handled and shot one in a .270, so there isn't going to be any noticeable difference between it and the .280.
It's a relatively lighter gun and I fired a three shot group into a tad over .75" at 100 yards with 140 grain Nosler partition handloads. There isn't much factory ammo available, so if your gun doesn't like what's out there, and if you don't handload, then you may want to reconsider.
BTW, it is NIB? If so, then it is kinda rare.
