just got one of these rifles, mine is an older one without the crossbolt safety. I plan on fitting it with a Marble's tang sight for deer hunting. Can anybody suggest some good hunting loads with, say, a 325gr bullet or heavier?

Read some of paco kelly's stuff on the 45colt and you may come up with some good loads in that weight range. Paco gives a lot of good info on loading the 45 LC . If you are only going for Deer and Hog then all you really need is somewhere between 250 and 300 grns in my experience and there is a plethera of loads for bullets in that weight range. My current deer load is a 250 grn keith over 10.5 grns of unique.

OK - good stuff.......I picked up the Rossi this week and ran some cowboy loads through it. I didn't put it on paper, but with a 250gr 8grs Unique load (my standard cowboy load) it shot VERY good - dead beer cans everywhere.
I'm looking to load 326-360gr hunting loads ( I like heavy bullets ) and came across some info for Hodgdon 4227, 100 and Lil Gun. I'll post on the results.

OK I got a screamer when bought the Rossi - it loves Cast Performance's 335 GC bullet with 21grs of 110 - shoots like a dream. I can't wait to set down and put it on the paper.
