I was looking at the 25ACP breechplug just yesterday and thought....
Would'nt it be wise for the big ammo guys to tweek the 209 into MZ submission?
And so it has been done.
Funny when somthing new and better threatens the megga corps they find a quick way to make to obsolite.
Is this goodbye the the 25ACP plugs?
It's way less money!

Well, its about time that someone come up with this idea. The next question has any one tried theses new primers? and is Remington distributing them to the local sporting goods stores.

I called remington. The young lady said they would start shipping them  mid 2nd quarter. She also said they would be widely distributed.

rp,

Yes, that is what they were made for (.410 bore). They are 209-4 Premier Primers from Remington. I have a few of them and am waiting to see if the NEW 209 KleanboreĀ® Muzzleloading Primers are really something NEW or if they are the old 209-4's in a NEW package.

Wal*Mart has the new Remington primers in stock, but brace yourself for the price of $6 a hundred.  Either Remington, Wal*Mart or both at that price are raping the consumer. I can still buy the 209-4's for $3 a hundred. I sure am glad I deceided to go with the .25 ACP Breech Plug now.  The small rifle primers are around $2 a hundred and no blow-back problems. Goodbye 209's.

I purchased some kleanbore primers about a week ago at Wal-Mart.  Haven't had the chance to use them yet.  And to me $6 a box for 100 shots ain't that bad, especially if it solves my crud ring problem.

So basically, the problems has been too much power from the 209's so they're cutting back on the "umph" a bit to stop the powder from being pushed into the bore. OK, got it.  So why not just come up with a holder for a Large Rifle primer or a breech plug that'll use a standard #11 cap.
