Oh boy, this might become a very long thread. :)

Let's see, Sako, Tikka, Remington, Browning, and Savage.  I can personally attest to the first 4 since I own and use them.  I only mention the last because that's what a lot of people say.

Zach

You pretty much nailed it, but I would put it at Browning, Tikka, Sako, Savage and Remington.

TM,

Savage, Weatherby, Ruger, Winchester, Browning, and Sako/Tikka.  I don’t own any new Sako rifles but those that do say they are accurate.  I do own the others(with the exception of Browning) and can attest to their accuracy.  At this point in time the Savage is proving to be the most accurate out of the box rifles made today which makes it about the ‘best bang for the buck’ value out there.  Lawdog

would have to add Wicnchester Super Shadow Model 70. Savage, Remington Ruger would be next.

My new Savage told me who makes the most accurate out-of-the-box rifle. I have all the above mentioned rifles except for the Sako, Browning, and Weatherby. Not one rifle has come even close to my new Model 10 FP in .223 caliber. I was shooting sub .600" groups (4 out of 5) each time I shot the factory rifle. This past week, I added a B&C Duramaxx stock and I am shooting .500" to .600" groups with reloads 4 out of 5 groups. This is shooting at a 100 yd range with cross winds and face winds up to at least 10 mph all the time I was shooting.

Please understand these are new test loads and not even close to my final product. My goal is to get this rifle to regularly shoot .300" to .350" groups off the bench.

My Ruger in .243 has been a tack driver also but it took a new Timney trigger, the barrel re-crowned, and the lugs being lapped. My best group ever has been a 3 shot group measuring .147" with 70 gr Nosler BT bullets.

I don't know about the newest ones, but Remington has always been the most accurate for me. This based on older guns though. They are really easy for the home gunsmith to tweak, too.

At one time I would have said Remington, especially the 40x. The mod 600 and 788 were unbelieveablly accurate. Now from what I,ve seen from other's rifle's I've loaded for, Savage. Also read just a few new deal's that's intresting, not willing to take the plunge yet tho, does Mossberg ring a bell?

Without my present disgust's interfering, the most accurate rifle's I,ve owned; Remington(rest in peace!) and at #1 Sako( the old L61R, L57 and L461.

I would have to agree with Graybeard, Remington has always been the best for me. Savage and CZ's would be next. Have not owned any other good shooters, but have had some bad ones. Going to the range to test a 223 CZ this weekend if weather permits.

any remy 700 or a good savage will shoot good but if your going to have a lot into a gun why not pay a little extra and get a custom made just for you (and they all shoot good)

I have seen many name brands shoot very well out of the box.  And quite a few that did not shoot MOA.  I think you can find both in any name brand.  But the question is what are the "odds" that this name brand will shoot as good as I hope or expect it to?  This is where all the personal variables come in to play, and I tend to think the variables effect accuracy more than the name brand.  I have shot rifles that I just could not get the groups where I wanted them, yet my buddy could take my rifle and ammo and shoot MOA.  He has had the same deal with rifles but that I could shoot well.  But the rifles that we both keep always shoot well for both of us.  Sako and Tikka always, with a few other ones more hit and miss.

I searched for a rifle that had an accuracy guarentee and for the money, I found nothing better than the Tikka. For the price, as far as I know, they are the only one that offers a 1 MOA out of the box.

I used to have a Browning Abolt and it wasn't that good. Probably 1 1/2 MOA with handloads at best. Wifes Abolt shoots just fine, at or below MOA. I always buy Remington shotguns and my buddy's 300 RUM shoots real nice too.

Best thing you can do is either work with your gun shop and see if they'll let you take the rifle you want to the range and shoot it. If it shoots, buy it. If not, keep looking.
