Fouling shot in Huntsman/Side Kick

On the following website, they recommend a fouling shot before getting good accuracy in a muzzleloader with Pyrodex. They said you will get a flier on the 1st shot without fouling the barrel first.

Shoot 1 shot >spit patch>dry patch>good groups. Problem is hunting in a public area you cannot just shoot off your gun in the wee hours of the morning plus then you carry around a fouled bore for a whole day which will lead to bore corrosion. Website said they do not have this problem with triple 7 but cannot explain why? They were using a variety of muzzleloaders but not any H&R product and reported the flier problem with all of them except when they used triple 7.

Have you guys seen fliers from a clean barrel and what combination of bullet, powder type, and load was worst and best. What do you do to insure accuracy on your first shot without exposing the barrel to corrosion. I have a blued barrel. Can you use something like bore butter (got plenty of it)  in place of a fouling shot. I will test on my own but some replies could save me some trouble if I could build off of your experience.

I have not experience that problem with a flyier but I found if you foul your barrel with a primer only that helps. You won't need to shoot a loaded gun just a primed gunand it won't be so loud. :-D

     The only time I use a fouling shot is when I am shooting Conicals out of my White Rifle.  The conical will move off the charge if barrel is not fouled.  The conicals I use stay on the charge in my Huntsman , XTP's  in their sabots aint going nowhere.

My understanding, a fouling shot is required to improve accuracy when shooting conical bullets only.  Other styles, such as patched balls, sabots, and powerbelts use a device (soft material) to grip the rifling as the projectile is fired.  
The fouling in the barrel does the same for a conical lead projectile.
Also helping hold the bullet on the charge, as bjgolfnut said.
