Wondering what you think of your t-3's now that you've had them for awhile ? I know about the blow ups. I've bought 3 a ss/syn 7mm-08, a hunter in 270 and another ss/syn in 7mm-mag. Thus far I'm very happy with them. How about the rest of you? any problems?

Love the gun. Also have 308 Whitetail hunterand a Continental Varmint in a 223. All excellent firearms. Outstanding accuracy. Thanks Bob

Shot my T3 Varmint 223 for the first time this past weekend. Awesome rifle. Shooting groups just over 1/2" with the Winchester white box stuff.

I own a t3 blued synthetic .300 win and the more I shoot it the more I like it only thing is its a bit light wieght makes shooting lots of rds painfull but its more accurate than I am right now it will shoot about 1" groups or less at 100yds best was about .5" with my reloads. also fits me very well Id say its one of the best factory guns goin

I have a NIB T3 Stainless Synthetic in .300WSM. Thank goodness I found out that it was NOT affected by the recall. Apparently only a small percentage of the T3s were affected, and mine was not in that group.

I mounted a Zeiss Conquest 3x-9x-40mm on it, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it.

Still, I own several other Tikkas (all WHs) and the quality and accuracy of the T3 is identical to the WHs, so I don't expect there will be any difference.

I have a wood blued Tikka T-3 in 25-06. It is my favorite rifle and I also own Rugers, Remingtons, and Brownings. Best factory trigger I have ever seen on a gun in this price range although to be fair I must admit I have never shot a Savage with the new Accutrigger. My Tikka will shoot 1 inch or better groups at 100 yards with either Hornady 117 gr SP or Federal 117 gr Sierra Gamekings factory loads. In fact I have shot at least 6 different factory loads through it at the local gravel pit and have yet to find one it shoots poorly just some better than others.

I have a T3 lite in .270 WCF. It's a great gun, but they have too much plastic. I hunted with the rifle one day and the bolt shroud cracked in half. The gun was still shootable, but I had to contact beretta for a replacement. THey did send one out at no charge and I did replace it with no problems - however, it shouldn't have broken in the first place....

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. I haven't had any of mine crack - at least not yet.

I sure wish that Tikka wouldn't use as much plastic as they do, although it's never been a problem for me.

I have to admit that I was always a little curious about something like that happening. Now I would just like to know the circumstances upon which it happened.

I looked at a new Tikka T3 in a shop the other day. At first, it was love at first sight. The wood was fantastic, the trigger was excellent, etc., etc. Then, I discovered the polymer detachable magazine, which troubled me a bit, and then a started to notice more plastic. I cooled my jets and left without buying anything. Now, I think I'm glad for that, but I still may go and look again. It sure looked nice. It's funny how I can abide black plastic on a Glock or AR15, but it just looks out of place on a bolt-action rifle with a fine wood stock. That strikes me as a strange mixture of Old World and high tech.

I don't know quite what broke it - I was cleaning the rifle and noticed that it was cracked almost all the way thru. I don't know if it cracked against something when I was out hunting or what.

It made me worry about the trigger guard.

The only place I've heard about blow ups is right here on this forum. I Have seen nothing in the monthly gun literature about this. I have a Whitetail Hunter and and have never heard anything from Bretta. Where can I go to find out the facts?

I have 2 t-3's, one in 7-08 and another in 7mag. I am very pleased with both of them. They are super accurate, super smooth, and very tough. The plastic mag doesn't bother me at all. I am very please with the rings they come with also. They outshoot anything I've ever owned with the exception of a Steyr-Mannlicher I have. I can't imagine a better bang for the buck out there.

I agree this forum has had the most info about Sako/Tikka blow ups. Some has been very accurate and some not so much, but for the most part raised some great questions. Here is the number to the recall hot line, 1800 503-8869. You may get a bunch of different reasons why this has happened, or to which guns, however the bottom line is as long as the gun in question is not on the recall list your fine. They may not have handled this very good in the beginning, but I think they have done a better job as of late. They will now guarntee that if your gun is not on the list it is 100% safe to shoot, and that is something they wouldn't say 2 months ago when I called. Also from what I understand Sako and Tikka use the same barrells, so other than the plastic parts on the Tikka the accuracy is supposed to be the same, guarnteed 1 inch groups at 100 yrds.

Good point. I hope Sako/Beretta takes feedback and changes back to more metal and less plastic.

I got a blue T3 in 243 last July for my birthday and I'm am ETREMELY pleased with it...

I've shot 4 different (not the same day) single hole 4 shot groups with it.

I would highly recommend the T3.. my next bolt gun will be a Sako but it's hard to beleive they shoot this good!.

T-3 in 300 WSM. Shoots fine but in reality not better than any other rifle I have in safe. Nice rifle but again really didn't wow me in comparison to my other rifles. Throat issue still irks me since the 300WSM will never get same performance as out of Savage etc. New 700 CDL in 7RM shoots rings around it.

Yes iI think the remy cdl is a nice looking gun, but, it weighs about 1 lbs, more than a tikka, needs a trigger job,has a longer bolt throw and does not cycle a round nearly as nice as a tikka, plus it 's $100 more. The savage isn't even in the same class as remy and tikka.

It's my understanding from another forum (THR), that the Tikka/Sako problem was confined to one run of stainless barrel steel. Approximately 6000 linear feet of it. However, someone here may certainly have better information. I brought it up because I didn't see it mentioned previously in this thread.

I don't have a T-3, but do have a Tikka Whitetail in LHB. If I had the need for another LHB, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a T-3, if they'd ever bring 'em into the country. Somehow, I suspect that the advent of Tikka T-3 LHB's is something not to hold one's breath for.

I recently traded for a tikka T3 laminated stainless 338. My first impressions with the rifle where good fit and finish, and really good accuracy. I also noticed that it had more recoil that most any other rifle I had ever shot. 225 and 250 gr havey loads in a 7lb rifle really kick. I had a muzzle break put on it and that tamed it down to roughly 06 recoil levels. Made it a much easier gun to shoot for me. I highly recomend a good break for this lighter rifles in the bigger calibers. Great rifles, accurate, light, and great looking.

Hello.
I have Tikka T3 varmint in .223.
I find this rifle the best choice for under 600$(I mean the rifle, not the caliber). I think 223 is a very light caliber, eventually I will buy another rifle in 308 or 300 winchester magnum, remington ultramag, or something like that.
Anyway back to the rifle.
Rifle has excellent craftsmanship.
Very good trigger/ safety design which allows very crisp and adjustable triggers.
Very good bolt design which allows tool-free disassembly of the bolt.
Rifle comes with 1" guaranty from the factory.
I have heard that all Tikka rifles are not only made by SAKO they also come with the same barrels as SAKO rifles(the only difference is Tikkas have two locking lugs and SAKO have 3 locking lugs).
Very accurate at 1MOA with Winchester 45Gr (white box), reloads can obeously achieve much greater accuracy.
The are a few downside of this rifle:
Varmint model in 223 has twist 1 to 12, so if you try to shoot 55gr or higher grain ammo, it will not have enough twist to stabilize the bullet, which will result in poor accuracy.
Because Tikka T3 detachable mags, the rifle will not feed singles(i mean if you put a round manually through ejection port).
Berreta customer support is very bad.

i have the tikka 270 wsm synthetic stock. you wont find a smoother bolt than this or better factory trigger pull. shoots 1 in groups easily. it has to be one the lightest guns made, and just because its light doesnt mean it has lots of recoil, it doesnt. i looked at the remington and winchester synthetics, they all look the same. some people dont like the looks of the tikka, so who cares what it looks like as long as it is accurate.

aleast here in Mn. I've never seen one at a walmart. cabelas, gander mtn. and online at gunsamerica.com are all good places. I would say you'll pay around $500 for a blued/ syn. Most gun for the money out there for sure.

I bought my Tikka T-3 .308 Hunter last year and I love it. I bought mine from a newly opened Gander Mtn Store for around 520 with a gorgeous curly walnut stock. Barrel is free floated and its still nice and light.

Shoots sub moa with FGGM as well as my factory hunting ammo. Tighter wth the FGGM. I forget what it is exactly at this time since I'm exhausted but I just had to post how happy I am with the rifle. Smooth action, lightweight, great trigger, accurate and affordable. What more can a guy ask for?

I've never seen them in stock but ask if they can order it for you. Yes, Wal-Mart does order guns! Came as a shock to me when I found out as well. My local Wal-Mart ordered my Tikka T-3 for me. You pay half in advance and the other half when it comes in. In fact you would be surprized at what is in the book they keep behind the counter at the sporting goods section. Browning, Howa, Remington, Winchester, Marlin, Savage, Ruger,etc, etc, etc. They even had Weatherby Mark V's in the book and that is a seriously expensive rifle. The list Price for my Tikka was 458 dollars. If they can get one in for you I doubt you will find one cheaper anywhere.
