Ammo for Tikka T3 .338 WM??
« on: February 12, 2005, 12:56:05 PM »
I am looking for advise from anyone shooting the T3 Lite in a .338 WM.  Today I brought mine out to the range for the first time and was shooting Win 225 Accubond.  I chose Accubond as the Federals shot excellent through my Browning 7mm.  Unfortunately, I'm finding that this does not shoot as well through the Tikka.  My shots basically formed two groupings about 3 inches apart.  I'm thinking of trying the Federal Trophy Bond in 225???  Any input from those who have trial and error experience with this gun would be appreciated.

If the ammo is forming 2 good groups although they are apart, I would say the ammo is just fine. I suggest keep shooting those rounds and concentrate on form and trigger pull. Getting used to the recoil of the .338 will definitly bring those 3" groups together in one tight group.

I experienced the same delima when I started shooting the .338.

Good luck and congrats on a fine rifle.

If you dont mind I would like to know where you found the T3 lite in 338.
Been looking for one awhile and havent found a dealer.
What is your overall impression.
Dont have a dealer around close so only have seen them on the web.
Is the recoil what I think it should be?

I found mine at Gander Mountain, but I had to make sure they checked the computer at all stores.  They had six and I got mine from GB, Wis.  They shipped it to the Denver store in a week at no extra charge.  As for the recoil, yes it's a LOT more than my Browning 7mm.  25 rounds yesterday with a pad, and I feel it today.  Doesn't happen like that with the 7mm.
