Yup this growing old stuff ain't what it's cracked up to be for sure.

I've still not shot the rifle. I do have it scoped and have ammo loaded up and ready to go out to the range. Just haven't done it yet. I'm having a serious shortness of breath problem right now. Walking up the little incline to the firing line just once really takes all of my breath away and I have to rest and recover. To shoot I really need to make several trips to get the guns and gear up there. Then I have to walk the targets down range. Once again a trip that requires me to lean on the target stand to get my breath back before I can return to firing line. Not very conducive to doing a lot of shooting.

The doctors have checked out my heart as a possible reason and more or less ruled that out. I do have some blockage and thickening of the heart walls but they don't seem to think either or both are the full answer. I'm now awaiting the results of a pulmonary function test to see if my lungs are the problem.

So right now I'm kinda in a waiting mode to see what the doctors say and for spring to arrive. I have a lot of shooting I need to do with several new guns but until I get the OK from the doctors I'm in a holding pattern.

Sounds like you are a candidate for the 'Zipper Club'.  A tongue-in-cheek brother/sisterhood of people who have had Open Heart Surgery.

Thanks guys for the come-back and Bill (Greybeard),I'm sorry about what is going on with you.I had a bad breathing problem too and was diagnosed with mild emphazema about fifteen years ago so I gave up the ciggarettes.About four years ago ,I again had a breathing problem and they found a half inch hole in my heart ,in the septum between the left and right ventrical.I wasn't getting enough oyegenated blood to my lungs. They plugged it up at the Cleveland clinic.I still have a problem breating but I went from 160 lbs to almost 200 in the side of a month and can't get rid of it.I am only 5'7" so it is a chore to bend over and tie my laces.Don't wait till it is too late, getter done! Hope all your tests come back negitive and that it is nothing serious.Good luck!

I'm also 5' 7" but weight over 260.

They did a heart cath and decided nothing more is needed on the heart at this time. Waiting to find out on the lungs.
