Good gun been around for many years.  They make the Weatherby Vanquard and the old S&W 1500.  Trigger is adjustable down to about 4lbs.  Barreled actions are imported by Leqacy and they put Boyd's stocks on them here.

Don't know about the heavy barrel, but I have 2 s/s in .223 and .243 both shoot around a 1inch group with factory ammo. Great gun, could improve the trigger pull.

Only about the 1500 reqular barrel.   Excellent hunting rifle and only $319 here in Houston.   Not pretty, not fancy, but a super shooter.
What are your plans for that heavy rascal?

I have a S&W 1500 (made by Howa in the 80's) in .223 with the heavy barrel. Stock is pretty nice but the trigger is really bad. However, it still shoots 1/2" groups all day long, with cheap ammo! Sucks to pack that damn thing up and down the sagebrush hills after coyotes but with that kind of accuracy I do it.

Dear ARTR,
I made up one in .223 Rem for my grandson with the SS action and glass stock. Put a beautiful Nicols 3-10 scope on it and sighted it in [8 shots]with the last three touching at 100yds. THEN!! My grandson is autistic and can`t take the noise! Anyone wanna buy a brand new Stainless Steel 223 with scope cheap? 500.00 for the works.

Aloha, Mark
