Author Topic: Please help with Star Super B safety malfunction!! (Read 847 times)

After a range session this weekend, I noticed the thumb saftey was not functioning. It is loose, in the fact that it will not stay in the safe [up] position. Is there a spring or ball or something lost out of it?? Where are parts available, and I need a schematic also!!!

That Star has a safety just like a Colt .45. A spring-loaded ball catch hold it in postion. You should be able to see if there is no ball riding on the safeties facets. Your parts/ schematic needs may be addressed by another contributor.

Your spring might have broke and let the pin go farther into the seat. The safety is held in place by a rounded pin as opposed to a ball. A spring can be made by finding a correct diameter mandrel like a finishing nail and wrapping music wire around it with an electric drill. You chuck the nail and wire together and wind it up on the nail and voila, you have a spring. A guitar string "B" will work nicely.
