Anybody have any tips on buffing some minor scratches out of some black
Micarta grips on a Freedom Arms Premiere Grade? I would prefer to not send them back to FA if I don't absolutely have to.

I thinned the rosewood grips on my 83 a while back. The rosewood is impregnated with resin to strenghen it. After I got them to the shape I wanted, I smoothed them up with 00 steel wool. A little wax and buffed with a cloth is all they needed after that. You could not tell them from factory. Good luck 44 Man

Or you could use crocus cloth, basically jewlers rouge on a cloth backing. Your hardware store may have it.

you can do them on a buffer but go very light and really pay attention to your heat build-up.....a light buff and them change to the other grip or side...always keeping them cool...whenever your buffing/polishing laminates/plastics etc you have tgo just be careful not to take it from buffing to melting as it can happen quick. Its perfectly do-able but if all you have polished is metal do some scrap plastics like acrylic for practice first.
