Browning A-Bolt
« on: February 06, 2005, 11:40:51 AM »
Bought a Browning A-bolt in 30.06 last year. Now I am wanting to make it a little bit better.  I am wondering if what it would take to get a better trigger pull.. Is there a aftermarket drop-in trigger group, or replacement parts?..

My other question is what would be the *BEST* scope mount and rings for this gun.. The scope that will be put on it is a Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50..

Thanks for any help or comments.

All my a-bolts have the spring replacements which I would get a crisp 2 lbs pull.  All this for $13.00.  Hard to beat that.  I got the spring kit at www.midsouthshootersupply.com

I have the micro hunter in 7-08 and it went to the gunsmith only one week after I brought it home.  3lbs pull now, I don't know what it was to start but it needed at little help.  Great little rifle.

I have two A-Bolt I stainless stalker rifles.  The gunsmith did trigger jobs on both of them and similarly set them at 3 pounds.  Crisp triggers - really nice, but then again a good trigger job on my Remchesters are just as nice - if not nicer.

As for scope mounts, I like Leupold dual dovetails.

I found the Timney springs to be to light in my micro hunter.  The micro hunter is not the same trigger as the other A bolts, so be carefull ordering a new trigger.  I found a spring, lighter than factory, heavier than the Timneys, to be right.  I did see a trigger for the Micro hunter somewhere, maybe Brownells, not cheap though, around $100.00.  I'm real happy with mine and the different spring.

Demon - get the triggers from Midsouth.  Ridiculously simple and will give you exactly what you want - whatever you want.  Best $13 you will ever spend.
