I use J-B bore paste before I shoot the first time to clean all factory oil out of the barrel. Afetr that, I just use my normal products, Hoppe's BR-9 and Sweet's.

Butch's Bore Shine seems to work well.  I have used it on factory & custom barrels with equal success.

I was reading in Gun Test Reports on a comparison of bore cleaners.  They had Shooters Choice, Sweets, BMG 50 and a few others.  They gave highest honors to BMG 50, which is fairly new.  I have some, and it does work great!  However, the ammonia smell is as strong as i've ever smelled   :(

The interesting thing is that they placed copper jacketed bullets in each solution and weighed bullets before and after soaking.  The bullet in BMG 50 had slightly lower weight than the remainder, suggesting copper removal rates were higher in this solution.

I suggest BMG 50 whenever your in the market for a new bottle of bore cleaner!!!

Of course, its hard to beat a solution of equal thirds of marvel's mystery oil, odorless kerosene, and acetone for effectiveness and low cost.

Here's a link to a pretty good article on general bore cleaning:

I've been using Shooter's Choice for powder fouling followed by Wipeout or Barnes CR-10 for copper fouling. I ordered some MPro-7 yesterday for powder fouling, so I'll soon see how it works.

I gave up on Hoppe's No. 9 for my rifles long ago...

Shooter's Choice for powder, followed by Butch's Bore Shine or Barnes for the copper, depending on how heavy the copper fouling is.
