I just ran across the Remington VSF on their website. New stock color and fluted barrel has been added. Has anyone bought one or seen one yet. I am just before buying a .223 and was leaning towards a Bushmaster Varminter but I really like the looks of the VSF. Speaking of that, I am told that a bolt gun will probably be more acurate than a semi-auto, is that true?? Thanks for any help.

Yes I'm quite certain it will be more accurate than the semiauto. I've owned lots of Remington varmint rifles and all were easily 1/2 MOA guns with loads they liked.

I'd advise you to hold one of these new rifles before plunking down your money. The grip is too short and too fat for me. Otherwise I really like them. They have the Wunderhamer (sp) on both sides of grip and it is way too short for my full hand to fit on it. My little finger kinda dangles in the air and I don't have all that large of a hand. Glove size is large.

I passed on buying one even tho I've owned the VS guns before and really liked them.

I own a VS SF in .308, which is essentially a short-action sendero SF. I too like it alot, although it is kinda heavy and bulky. As far as accuracy is concerned, it shoots 1MOA or better with just about anything you load with it.

I also agree with GB that bolt-actions are generally more accurate than semi-autos - all else being equal. Bolt-actions are more rigid and thus more condusive to better accuracy.

I have a VSSF in 22-250 that I use at our 500 yard range and am well pleased with it. On windy days we back off to 300 yards and I decided a .223 would work well at that range and the ammo would be cheaper (don't reload yet). Considered a Tikka Varmint and then got on the AR-15 kick but for what we are doing, probably need to stay with the bolt gun. I really like the VSSF and will give the new VSF a look.
