Model 53 Browing 32-20
« on: January 23, 2005, 01:21:28 PM »
I put some cash down on a NIB Model 53 Browning today at a gunshow and would like to know if anyone has one and load preferences.
I know that they are a limited production made 15yrs or so back but, where they made in any other calibers?   I will go pick it up in a couple weeks as I have a trip planned and I'm wondering whether to shoot it or not.  Any collector value in these?  I am getting it well under the cost of a new Marlin CB or Win 92.  I'll search some more when I ahve time but, would like some ifo if you have any to share,  Thanks

I too have one and like it alot. Tempted to buff the wood to get rid of the glossy finish though. Mine seems to prefer 115gr bullets over the lighter ones. I mostly shoot cast Lyman 311008 that various commercial casters make. Mine has the Browning tang sight installed also. This gun is mostly an iron sight gun as scopes are difficult to mount, which is fine by me. It has spent alot of time in the woods as it is easy to carry. Prices around here, SE Michigan, are in the $700-$900 range for USED ones! I vote for shooting it and enjoy it!

Iowahunter, The model 53 browning was only made for about 1 year, 1990. It was only made in 32/20 cal.

I had one in the mid 90's as did a friend of mine. They both shot 115 gr gc bullet loads wonderfully. Have fun with your new toy, you'll love it. Regards, Byron
