how big are these towns we are going to be shooting at??? i've never hunted p-dogs so if i sound real stupid please forgive me. i just don't see why we can have more then 20 people there ? if you had groups of three spread out along the same firing line may 50yards or more whatever between them so we don't shoot the same dog, i mean it might be a long line but still i don't see it being unsafe . we all know the rule be sure of your target and beyond.

am i in left field??? :?

Like you I've never seen a prairie dog much less a dog town so visualizing all this is kinda difficult for me too. BUT my friend Rudy has gone twice now without me as I had to back out on him both times. I have seen a lot of pictures from his hunts in the more northern areas also being discussed.

There at least it's not a flat smooth pool table kinda place to be. The rifles are likely gonna be capable of reaching out to tocuh them to 300-500 yards from you. So if you're set up even 50-75 yards from another shooter and are shooting PD's in your safe field of fire you'll be shooting at a large area of the same critters.

Again falling back on the photos Rudy sent me it's not like they are stacked up out there like sardines in a can either. True some holes/mounds seemed pretty close but at other times quite distant from each other.

I think one thing that might help Wes in this is some expectations from us who are wanting to show up as to just how many shots per day would make us as happy as a pig in a mudhole and what would have us thinking we didn't get to shoot very much. I'm a thinking I'll just start a thread on that topic.

Mitchel, I've got towns that I shoot in that are anywhere from half a quarter, all the way to a full section and anything in between.  Of course, a section is 640 acres, and a quarter is 160 acres.  Some towns out here are spread out over more than one section, so there's some pretty big towns.

I'd say on average, that the majority of the towns are in the "quarter size" category though.  That's why I'm splitting everyone up into teams, so I can get everyone into a town, and have plenty of shooting.
You haven't hunted......Until you've hunted the hunters
