:D Hello everyone!  I have read and enjoyed this forum for some time.  I have a .223uv and the thing shoots great I have caught the handi bug.  I am always thinking of ways(different guns) to get my share of Midwest Coyotes were I live.  I was thinking this morning yote hunting,  why couldn't I buy another uv.223 barrel and have it rechambered for a custom 22-06 cartridge.
Anybody ever heard of such a cartridge, just an idea. Thank You for all the great tips, and I hope you can help me with my questions.

Can you say THROAT EROSION. The 22-250 and the 220 Swift will accomplish the same thing. Whenever you burn a lot of powder pushing a small caliber bullet it is really hard on barrels. The two I mentioned before and the 204 Ruger will accomplish about the same thing but you won't find a Handi in 220 Swift. :D This is just my opinion and I don't discourage anyone if they want to experiment. :D By the way, welcome to the forum. Great bunch of guys here and all are willing to help out if the can. 8)

Welcome to the forum!

I agree about the throat erosion.  It's called overbore.  The 22-250 and the swift both suffer from it and they hold less powder than the '06 case.

The smallest I have seen off the '06 case is 6mm and that is pushing it.

I think wildcat rounds are a cool idea, but the 22-250 will do anything you need in the 22 cal.  As far as the 204 goes, it is a good idea but after 400yds it will not compare to a 55 or 60gr (or heavier) 224 pill.

I'd say if you want real long range get a 243 and use 55-60gr bullets pushed to 4000.

:grin: Thanks Guys for your input.  I Think I just might have to send off the reciever to get the 22-250 barrel.  I already have a .243 in Remington 700, just wanted something different from the ordinary.  Thanks for the help :D

Hey RR
In the meantime try that 243 with some Sierra 85gr BTHP bullets.  Easy to get well over 3000 with those and they are very effective at 500yds on the coy dogs.

:grin:  I will have to try that currently have handloaded the .243's using win. cases, H414 and Nosler 55gr.bt.  The book say this load is suppose to give velocities at 3980 but i cannot get the rifle to group @200. I ave also tries 75gr. Hornady v-max using IMR 4064. These loads seem to shoot flatter and  give a more cosistent grouping.  But I will have to see if Gander mountain has got those bullets and check out some load data using the  bullet you listed in a load.
