Dates for Prairie Dog Shoot
« on: January 17, 2005, 04:01:52 PM »
I'm setting the dates for the shoot.

The dates that the shoot will be held will be June 3-6,  2005.  That's four days of shooting.

I talked to one of my buddies and he can help.  If the other guy can't for all four days, I'll work something out with another friend.

Don't see nuttin to stop me except perhaps my health. The doctor told me today I have an appointment with the heart specialist next Monday. I have to have a heart cath and then the specialist will tell me what more has to be done. It is exactly what I was expecting to hear after the stress test so it wasn't a surprise.

But on the bright side I have a long time to get over whatever surgery is needed.

Wife's 59th birthday is June 4. Yup she knows I'll be elsewhere. We'll pretend it's some other time. When you've been together as long as me and her ya don't let little things like birthdays and anniversaries get in the way. Now back in '73 I had just taken a new job that had me on the road about 100% of the time. I was in a hotel in DC, she was back home in Bama. She called me crying wanting me to come home. She was pregnant with our third son at the time and wasn't real happy for me to be gone. Took my old job back within a month. Partly to make her happy and partly cuz I didn't like being on the road living in motels and eating in restaurants all the time myself.

Sep. 3, 2005 will make #40 for us.

GB. way to go. It will be 37 years for my bride and I on may 31. One of the reasons is that she is a hunter and fisherwoman too. If I can make it, she will probably come along. I had one job that kept us apart a lot. Quit it after three months. She was the smartest move this old boy ever made. She says I was just lucky :)  Maybe she is right.
shot placement is everything.

That's Dennis' job. At 45 years, he's just a young whipper snapper so he should be up to it.  :-D We're gonna just take it slow and easy. We'll take a couple days for the trip. Neither of us in any hurry.

I don't anticipate any problems making it really. But until the heart surgeon guy is finished with me and gives me a clean bill of health you just never know. With the advances in surgery these days it shouldn't be a problem. Heck I know a fellow who had brain surgery and was up and running in less than two weeks. A bit of tinkering with the old tickers shouldn't be much compared to that should it?

I'm in,so Marv are we going to take 4 wheelers, or just use the pickup? If we get tired of shooting we can always hit the local gun shop or feedstore for awhile.   Digger

Sounds like this guy may be a little tougher than most    Believe me when I say....he's still not doing much more than sitting on his butt all day :o

I've heard a couple of people bring up the four wheeler issue.  I would say just leave them at home.  We really won't need them to do the shooting we're going to do.  Plus, you're right, most of the farmers and ranchers aren't going to want us driving all over their grass.

June 3-6 is going to be real hard for me to make.  June 3 will be my 50th anniversary.  I already know I will be expected to do and be something special this year.  And I think my kids have something special in mind.  The thing I am going to hate is the dang picture in the local paper.    However, depending on how it works out I might be able to get out there for 5th and 6th.  Will just have to wait and see, sure looks like a fun trip.  Bet the grass will all be a lot greener after we leave, what with all the fertilizer spread around. :-D

So? The 4th is my wife's birthday. That ain't keeping me home. When you've been married as long as us one more ain't no biggie. Celebrate it early or late, that's what we're gonna do.
