Still havent made up my mind on the purchase of a new rifle yet.Has anyone purchased a 700 cdl in 7 mag or any other caliber?Also what kind of group size are you getting with factory ammo?Thanks.

I haven't even held on in my hands, but I know that Graybeard bought one in .35 Whelen.

You may want to do a search on this site and find his post, but from what I recall, he said that is was lighter than what he expected and that the quality was (again,  if I remember correctly) a tad bit lower than the BDL line.

Nope I said nothing about lower quality. That's Lawdog's area of expertise  :-D I have seen no deterioration of Remington's quality in the guns I've bought and I buy a bunch of Remington guns.

I do in fact have a CDL in .35 Whelen. I have it scoped and some ammo loaded but have not yet taken it to the range. It does seem lighter to me than even my LSS Mtn. Rifles. Something that might be nice in a lesser recoil gun but I'd have preferred another pound at least on it as a Whelen. Still it's not a gun I'm gonna be doing a lot of target shooting with.

If you like walnut and blued metal it's a winner. I actually prefer SS metal and laminated wood but wanted the Whelen.

GB, I thought that you may have made a comment about the wood on the CDL not being as nice as the BDL, but I guess I was wrong.

I too would like to have a Whelen with a stainless action and barrel, and keep on hoping that someone will eventually make it.  Maybe Remington will in due time.

Like Graybeard, I picked up a CDL in .270, but have yet to scope it or take it to the range.  Overall inspection of my rifle shows good workmanship and fitting... I expect good things from this rifle at the range when it gets there!

I handled one CDL and I think it is a nicer rifle than the BDL.  I wanted one in .280 Remington but that was a limited run last year and I wasn't quick enough on the draw with my wallet.

If I may ask what you paid for you CDL 35 Whelen.  If you don't want to say is it higher or lower than $629.  That is the price of the model at Cabela's.  Also they have a 7600 for $529, any thoughts on that price?

P.S.  The one I looked at was very nice.  I have two Classics and love them dearly.  300 Savage and a 257 Roberts.  Both are very nice.

I also have a 35 whelen CDL I must say it is a lite weight gun but well balanced. I aslso have an older BDL I would say booth are well made when zeroing the scope I could cover a 5 shote group with a quarter at a 50 yrds and at hundred was still darn good. The kick is there put not as bad as one would think- good recoil pad. I almost hate hunting with it ,don't won't to mess it up.  Shop around for cost  I saw a hundred dollars difference.

I have a .280 BDL, I love the gun, but I long for a .280 CDL. I went to order one Saturday, only to be told by all the dealers in town, they could no longer get them through their distributors. I ended up getting aWinchester 70 FWT, another gun I've wanted for quite some time.

I paid $579 out the door for my CDL in .35 Whelen. I believe both the .280 Remington and the .35 Whelen are standard catalog items in the CDL in 2005. Shouldn't be any problem getting either now. However they may not yet be in the hands of the distributors.

Tried to locate some CDL's before Christmas in both 280 and 35.  None of the distributors had any left.  They said they got grabbed up as soon as they got them.  With two good calibers like that I can understand why.

  For 2005 the .280 was dropped in favor of the .25-06. If I wanted a .25-06, I'll just buy a barrel for my Encore. I know I could do that with several cartridges, but I do not see me using a .25-06 that often.

I noticed that Rem brought out the CDL in a lefty model.  I have thought for a while that the CDL is a very good-looking rifle (I am a huge fan of walnut, bluing, and black foreend caps).  Before, in a walnut gun, leftys were limited to the BDL which I didn't like because of their white line spacers and skip line checkering.  I might go out and buy a CDL in 270 or 7mm mag if I can find one in left hand.

Besides, I do have a spare scope laying around--which is a condition that is crying out to be fixed...

I just picked up my CDL in 300 win mag on Valentines day.Got a nice card to go with it too.
I like it and it sure looks really good.It has clean lines and looks real buisness like.I stuck an old 3 x9 on it but it is going to have to go in place of a matt black scope.I can't wait to shoot it.I have to fix up my bench first.One very nice thing that I noticed is it doesn't have all that warning stuff stamped all over the barrel.

I have a CDL in 280.  I bought it back in November 04, finally got it scoped with Talleys and glass bedded.  I have only 10 rounds through it but two 3 shot groups each went 3/4" with Hornady 139gr and 58gr of H4831 in Rem cases with Fed Primer.

I have one in 270.  It does seem lighter than my other BDL's.  The accuracy is what can be expected from any Remington, good.  Talley light weight mounts really look like they are part of the rifle.  Just mailed it off to "Hill Country Rifle" for their complete accuracy package.  The thing that pisses me off is that I've got a Rem ADL that will stack bullets.  Maybe the CDL will when I get it back.
