Front sight....On or Off?

Factory barrels that come with open sights, do you leave the front sight on or take it off.  I have to take the rear one off for the scope to clear and have them with the front on and off.  What do y'all do and why?

I've done it both ways and can't tell any difference in accuracy - I just go with whatever looks best to me at the time.

I just kept mine on.  Kinda like the way it loks.  But just for giggles I wanted to see what it looked like with the front off and ya know what........the dange screw hole is bigger so you cant use the slave screws from the rear scope holes  :x .

I take mine off and use a bigger set screw to cover the hole. The set screws from a Marlin rifle works.  :D

On some of mine when I put a weaver style base on I like to use see through scope rings on and paint two white dots to use for a rear sight ..good for close up shots..
I have yet been able to shoot a 3 shot sub 1" group at 100 yards ...........on any deer!!!!!!

I take them off only because it makes the gun easier to wipe with oil after use.

I took it off today.  Had a screw that fit the hole perfectly too!  Gives it a little cleaner look as well I guess.  Now I am gonna have to shoot it some more to make sure nothing changed.

fish,
You did see the little smiley face dude at the end of my earlier post, didn't you?  All my buds think I am crazy because I re-check my zero about once a week.  I just likes to shoot!  I used to get to run about 250-300 rounds a month through our sniper rifle when we had the team here at the prison.  Now those were the good ole days!
