I like the smaller type motels where you park directly outside your room, which is always on ground level.  That way, I don't have to pack my gear up and down stairs.  I usually stay in the same room for 4-9 days and move all my stuff into it.  Then I just bring the guns and ammo I plan to shoot that day; saves a lotta confusion in the back of the pickup out in the feild.

I think the only one that will accomodate you in that respect is the one in Hooker.  It only has one floor.  Possibly the Regal Inn also but I don't know for sure.  It's not real busy around here that time of year and you could probably request a ground floor room anyway.  Not a real big tourist draw around here :?

Wes you mentioned the place of your friend's where we'll hold the evening gatherings and BS sessions is about 20 miles from Guymon. Is it closer to Hooker, further away or just in a totally different direction altogether?

Like cheatermk3, I kinda prefer a ground floor room you can park outside the door but often you can just ask for it when you make a reservation and get it even in multi level motels.

Now we need to get some dates all firmed up so folks can begin making reservations and setting vacation schedules. That latter is especially important for retired old farts like me with our busy schedules.  :-D

I live in Nebraska and I have been reading this forum for several months.  Is the OK P-dog shoot open to all Handi owners, or is this event by invitation only?  I would probably be able to make it, depending on the finalized date.

Nope MSP, it is a By-God REAL TOWN.  And I've heard all of the jokes because i grew up there :-D

Hooker is actually about eight miles from my friends house, so it's closer than Guymon would be.

If everyone wants to stay at the same place let me know and maybe I can get some kind of group rate.  Let me know and I'll check.  The place in Hooker is a small, individual family owned motel so it may be easier to get a group rate there.

This is one of the best areas in the country for phesants ( I know.....Dakota Scmatota).  Every December people from all around decend on the area motels with shotguns and ammo so I doubt you'd be doing anything they haven't seen before.

You guys talking using handguns and 22's for the little old 1000 yd. shots are going to look like amatuers out here in Ok. . We use bows and slingshots for that close of shooting. Sometimes we just throw big rocks ( if they're closer than 800 yds. :-D  :-D

What more could a tired sweaty old fat boy ask for at the end of a day except maybe a hot shower. I'll bet they have that too. Maybe we could book the whole place if it's small we might ought to. Once Wes gets the dates locked in I expect I'll be making a call to lock me in a room.

Wonder if they turn down the covers at night and put a mint on the pillow like the high class joints do?  :-D

The Sunset is a much older motel.  I really don't know much about the people who own it now.  It's been kind of an on/off place for many years.  The Cole is newer so I figgerd it would be cleaner and a little nicer.  It's up to you guys of course.

I'm about to go outside for the first time in a while.  One of the guys I'm planning on having help me is coming to get me so I'll talk to him for sure.  I'll set a date when I get back in.

Well...I'm flyin blind here...I don't know nuttin about that neck of the woods! Maybe the Cole is the way to go then....and "fancy" is not in my vocabulary or prerequisites so as long as its clean and the AC works...it's ok by me  Greybeard quote: "Wonder if they turn down the covers at night and put a mint on the pillow like the high class joints do?"

I'll do without the mint to save a dime too!!  :-D

GB, when your talking about 1,000 yard handgun doubles you are referring to 2 with one shot correct? When you wait until they are lined up correctly and then get them both with a single head shot to save the meat for the stew pot? They taste like chicken, dontchaknow. Not quite as tasty as roast Loon with cranberry, Puffin and Piping Plover stuffing but pretty good (or so I hear)...<><....
