Door Prize Give-aways
« on: January 14, 2005, 05:51:33 PM »
Guys I plan to hit up some of the folks who are advertisers or otherwise strong supporters of GBO for some stuff to give away in OK as door prizes. I figure I can get some from Hornady, Bushnell, Nosler at least. Not sure who else. Sierra is another fairly likely candidate.

If Sierra comes in naturally I'd expect them to toss in some bullets. If so what would be the preferred choices?

From Hornady what would you guys prefer? They make bullets, ammo and a whole host of reloading tools and equipment.

Bushnell is in already as I've already spoken to Laura and she has promised to support this. What would you prefer from their line of scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes and rangefinders.

I figure bullets is the most likely thing I can get from Nosler. What would be the preference of the group who will be there?

I'll try to contact NEF and see if they will provide either a gun of winner's choice or at least a barrel. Have no clue what they will say. In the past I've not even been able to get the guy at Marlin to talk to me so if he's the same one I suspect I'll get the same cold shoulder treatment.

I'll ask Mueller also for a scope. And perhaps Gunstocks, Inc for a stock for a handi.

I have no clue what will come from all of this but we'll have some I'm sure.

Comments? Suggestions of what to ask for or who else to contact?

That do sound like a FINE idea. I don't know about bullet choices, only would know for myself........308, .284 for me right now but that could change before the get together. I would think that almost any bullet sizes would work since there are so many Handis and Handi shooters from the 22's to the soon to come .500 S&W.  Noslers are a popular choice among the guys and so are the Hornadys, but then again so are the Sierras............Heck just get something from everyone........if we win it and can't use it, we'll trade it for something we can. That's the way we Handi-Holics are. My policy.........."If it's FREE, I want it!"
Looking forward to seeing everyone and making some chunks.

Nosler is a strong supporter of GBO. But NOT that strong a supporter.  :-D

I do plan to try to contact the right person at NEF/H&R and ask them to provide a certificate for either a free rifle in caliber of winner's choice or same for barrel of choice. Now what they will say I have no clue.

Maybe we should invite Gordon or some of the others from CS out to the shoot. Good PR for the company.

Whozat? Don't recognize the name or initials.

Ed are you in or out of the ride out with me and Dennis? Seems last I noticed you were gonna drive out with family? Is that still your plan. We're trying to finalize the three for trip out in my Toyota Tundra.

Hey guys, (and GB) your killing me, please don't make this sound like so much fun!!!  What with the new construction here, being retired, and the distance from this "God forsaken sandspit they call Cape Cod" (my description) to the gathering I will not be able to make "The First Great and Annual H&R/GB P'dog shootout". I will cry mself to sleep tonight between glasses of some beverage on ice that should be wearing a kilt and dream of being there with all of you. I really wanted to shoot my new/used 30-30 barrel on P'dogs head to head against the "Great GB hisself"!!!...<><....  :)

You know I feel bad for MSP ret loosing sleep every night thinking of the great P Dog Days He should just pack up and head to Indiana and catch a ride the rest of the way with some of us. As far as prizes go with bullets 22, 270, 30, 45 would all be good.My cosine has a TV show on the sportsman channel called Ozark Outdoors. I have thought of getting with him and see if he might like to get some footage of this shoot. Might make a good show to watch.

Wal just dang MSP, since you're retired like me what the heck is keeping you tied down. When ya retire ya go do what ya want to make up for all those years you did what someone else wanted ya to. Didn't they teach you that before ya retired? That's why it's called RETIREMENT. Bubba is thinking about coming from New York. There are folks along the way ya might get with or just fly in.

CS is customer service. Gordon is the person I traded emails with a few years ago when they had my frame for six months waiting on the 44 barrels to come in (also got .223 HB and 12 ga. turkey at the same time). I had asked for a trigger job then and didn't get it. I still need to send it back. Eight pounds is too heavy.

I may still be in for the trip, but unfortunately not the ride out with you. That would have been interesting. I am planning to do this for a day or so with my family in tow if the dates work out. We have been planning a trip to Arizona for a while. This is just happens to be on the way. We need a firm date very soon.

Marv, you don't even have an age listed in your profile. Get that date of birth in so we'll know how old you are. I suspect I could easily enough twist Adam's arm to toss in a box or three of those bullets. They work well with me and I do expect they will contribute to this.

Prize for winners? Is this going to be a competition? Like Handi rifles against custom built varmit rifles? Door prizes would be nice. Would not matter to me what they were.
shot placement is everything.

Wal Marv I think you've got a real good shot at being the oldest old fart there for sure. I'll see what I can do about those Sierra bullets.

I spoke with John R. Nosler today and he agreed to support us in this shoot. I even invited him to join us but dunno what the chance of that is. If he sends all the stuff on that list I sent him you guys gonna love it. I asked for bullets, caps, loading manuals, bullets, Nosler catalogs, bullets and anything else he might wanna give away and oh did I mention BULLETS? Lots and lots of thse super nice Nosler Ballistic Tips and Solid Base and in all sorts of calibers from .22 Hornet thru .30s.

Jon Jacoviak of The Optic Zone has now signed up to provide some thing for the PD shoot also. He will be letting me know the specifics of what in the next few days. At that time I'll list the item or items on the other thread I've started to provide the prize list for this event. Jon is a fine fellow to deal with and has some of the lowest prices on optics you'll find. Visit his site at: http://www.theopticzone.com/
