opinions on CZ 550 rifles
« on: January 09, 2005, 01:55:30 PM »
Hi guys,
I have a couple of rimfire rifles by CZ/BRNO .22lr's and .17hmr's and I am considering adding a CZ 550 .243 to my hunting rifles, the two I had in mind were (detach mags):-
the Standard or American

what do you think, what opinion's, I am after a cheap but accurate no frills rifle and it would seem the 550's would fit the bill perfectly?

nico,
I have never owned or shot a CZ 550, but I know several that have.  Every one had nothing but praise for them.  I have some of their rimfires and have owned a couple of 527's.  They all were excellent shooters.  If you happen to get a bad one it will be the exception.  They are a lot of gun for the money.
Best,

Hello...

I have a CZ 550 Safari Magnum in .375 H&H.  I have been very satisfied with it.  It is a very robust rifle.  Workmanship is excellent.  I have had no problems with it.  Accuracy is above and beyond what I would normally expect from a production rifle.  I think CZ products are an extremely good value for the money.

Cheers,
Gary

I have a CZ550 Prestige in .30-06 and absolutely love the rifle.  It is incredibly accurate and is free-floated from the factory.  The rifle is finished well, and just feels right to me.  Did I mention that it is extremely accurate?  IMHO, you can't go wrong with the CZ 550.
Good hunting!

cheers guys, I have decided to get two, one in .243" and a bit later on a second one in .308", what do you guys think of the single set trigger?
I will almost definately get both in "AMERICAN" style as these have clean barrels, and I want to fit moderators to both of them at a later date :-)

I don't have a 550 but 3 527's, I love the single set trigger, got mine to break at 2 1/2 lbs with no creep or overtravel on all three.
