Is there anyone out there in the whole world who makes smaller bolt action rifles for pistol cartridges like the Destroyer Carbines? I have one in the 9mm Largo and have a as yet uninstalled 9x19 chamber conversion. But, I would love to have one of those carbines, or one like it in some different pistol calibers. Is there anyone who makes these things?

Mikey; I have a Destroyer carbine also! It's a real fun-gun! I use 9X23mm Winchester brass for reloading. I just use my 9mm Luger dies to reload!
Tell me about this chamber conversion you're talking about!
I don't know of any other small cartridge rifles! I think one chambered for 30 Luger would be fun also!

Hay Chuck - thanks for the response. I use the same loading formula you do - 9x23 brass run through my 9mm dies. The 9mm conversion is similar to the 308/30-06 conversion - it's a small formed piece of metal that gets fire-formed into the chamber and acts as a chamber shortener so the 9mm can be chambered and fired in the 9mm Largo chamber. I haven't used it yet because I wanted to load the 9x23 brass.

So far mine isn't all that accurate and I doubted I would get any improvement in accuracy by lengthening the distance from case mouth to rifling, so I haven't installed it. Instead, I have been playing with some cast loads using 121/125 gn slugs, hoping the larger diameter of the rn-125 grainers would give me a bit of better accuracy. I'll find out as soon as it stops snowing (lol).

I have tried some 160 gn -.355 diameter rn slugs but didn't get any great accuracy there either. My bore is nice and shiny but the rifling is pretty shallow.

I agree with you on the 30 Luger chambering, and would also like to see one is 7.62x25mm chambering. Of course, a nice little bolt rifle in 45 auto or 45 Colt would make a wonderful camp gun. But honestly, there's nothing wrong with that 30 Luger either.

Now, if someone would just start making these again, on this side of the pond, we might be able to have some real fun with them. That being said, ya'll gotta know that I would be a sucker for an AR-7 in something other than a 22lr. How does the song go - ain't no tellin' where the money went.....................LOL. Mikey; I got a good deal on 3 boxes of 9X23 Winchester loaded ammo, with 125 gr Silver Tip Hollow Points! I tried one of them and the bolt just seized up and after I pulled hard enough, it finally opened!
WAY TOO HOT!
So , I pulled the bullets and worked up loads with unique and ended up with 5.3 grains and used the same bullets that I had pulled! They are pretty good (I think), about 2.5 to 3 inches at 50 yard! Ya know these sights are nothing to write home about, as the saying goes!
These crono'd an average of 1250 FPS!

Chuck White - the 9x23 in the Destroyer Carbine is a definate NO, as you found out. The difference in power levels is significant: the 9x23 powers a 125 gn bullet to 1425'/sec, the 9mm Largo powers a 124 gn bullet to about 1220'/sec. Dang brass is the same size but you already know not to use the 9x23 in your carbine.

Mine is not all that accurate, at least not yet. My stock to action/barrel fit is pretty poor and it is time for a stock job. Action-wise she isn't too smooth either but....... I think I will cut down the stock and bed the actionand see if I can get any better accuracy from it. You're right however, those sights aren't anything to crow about.

Ramrod - thanks for the link - I think that if anyone is going to come out with a bolt action pistol modification it will be Rhineland - and I like their G2 concept - with a removable barrel that just might be the ticket. Off hand, would you happen to recall what the case head dimensions are on that 5.7 FN round?

Mikey, I don't know the dimension offhand, but I believe it is unique, as RCBS lists a dedicated shellholder for it. (and the dies are $$$)
I think Rhineland's .45 kit might convince me to pick up one of the cheap Turkish Mausers floating around.
