I am going to get a new rifle and the savage 111 in 300 win mag looks and sounds good, but how accurate are they in terms of their grouping of shots.

roverman,

I, for one, think the package rifles from Savage are well worth their money.  My Model 10 GXP3 in .270 WSM started out shooting groups measuring about 3/4” and only got better with load work.  As for the Model 111FXP3 with it's AccuTrigger and it’s synthetic stock will do I have no idea as I have  heard some not so good things(mainly the stock flexes to much) about the Savage synthetic stock.  The Model 110GXP3 should do very well if you would consider one of them.  Personally I believe you made a good choice.  Lawdog

Ditto what LDog said. I never shot the 300 mag in a Savage but my 3  rifles are tack drivers with good groups which only got better when I started working on handloads. With my current generation of handloads in my 12FV and Accutrigger, I am getting 0.5" @ 100 yards, my 110 LA and 10 SA which are both non-accutrigger, are still works in progress on the handloads but the factory loads I use group 1" or less.

Safe shooting.

Lawdog,

Just purchased a 16fxp3 in 270 WSM.  Did you replace the scope on your gun and if so what did you go with.  Also, what factory load have you found to be most accurate?  I have only shot mine one time so far, off the back deck into a bank and all I can say is that accu-trigger is awesome!

My 111F in 30-06 will put 3 in a 1/2" and 5 in a 1" all day my my handloads.  Ya the stock is crap, but if you open up the barrel channel a little you won't have a problem though.  I hunted with my cousins friend this year that has the exact rifle you are getting his rifle was very accurate, but it kicked a lot.

VAhuntr,

My M10 GXP3's scope was damaged in shipping so I got a $75.00 credit towards another scope of my choice.  I bought/installed a Burris Black Diamond 4-16x 50mm Side Focus scope on Burris rings/mounts.  I never even saw the original scope but understand it was either a cheap Bushnell or Simmons.  I can't help you with factory ammo as I haven't bought any yet.  Lawdog
