Bought my 1st Taurus
« on: December 29, 2004, 07:30:00 PM »
Bought my 1st Taurus today. A Silhouette 66 .357 mag stainless with a 12 inch barrel. Figured I got a good deal. $295.00 new. Have quite a few other revolvers with the longer barrels but this is the 1st Taurus. Any comments on performance and accuracy with this model? Thanks--Greg

I have a model 607 in 357, very similar to yours with the exception of the barrel length. It is a fine shooter. If all is well with the gun now you should have yourself a keeper..... :D

Heres the scoop on the new Tauras. Put 50 rounds tru it and all seems well. Nice smooth trigger and timing seems ok. With the 12 inch barrel and longer site radius I can shoot this one using the open sights--its the old bifocal thing. At 35 yds offhand kept all 7 shots in a 5 inch ring which is pretty good for this guy. Gun balances pretty well-not really that front heavy given the long barrel. The boys were over today and put another box of shells tru it. They were pretty impressed with the way it shot. Better groups than mine. Must be the younger eyes. One of the guys I work with showed up today with a new 16 inch 45-70 barrel on his TC contender. Man-what a thumper. You want to have a good grip on this one when it goes off. We put 50 rounds tru it but the Taurus out shot it. Guess I'll hang on to this one. Greg. HAPPY TRAILS.
