I have one in 44 magnum, 7 1/2'' barrel, scoped and magnaported.

I see so many posts calling them ugly.

Am I the only one that likes their looks? :)

Ugly as sin.    Hurts my eyes to look upon them.   I usually close one eye and just quickly glance at them with the other while wearing sun glasses to minimize the damage to my eyes.

I'd go so far as to say "ugly", but it's performance that counts.

I think they look tough...Who cares if they are cutesy or attractive? Slap a Burris 2x scope on it and I would be ready to go.  I can see one on the horizon for me...Maybe after a couple more acquisitions are in the gun safe first.

i could never figure out why ruger didnt extend the barrel lug all the way on the redhawk line; like with the gp100.   to me, the way they have the underlug stop, and the barrel continue on looks horrible.
just mine, and it stinks just like everyone else's... :)

To me they look like a Short GP100 that someone shaved the barrel on.

Or one that has had the barrel extended way beyond the normal gun.

That said. I don't really care all that much for how it looks. If I get one it isn't going to be for gawking at after all.  And anything I shoot with it could care less what it looked like when it is all said and done.

Ugly guns kill just as dead as purdy guns.

They are ugly like an M-1 tank, all business!  If you are talking astetics, the Colt Single Action Army has to be the prettiest gun of all time, especially when it is in your hand.  But you would hardly use one as a primary hunting tool like you would the SR.  But on the other hand, I can't see walking around the woods all day with a SR on my hip as a 'target of opportunity' gun.  Need something smaller and lighter.  I owned a Redhawk for a while and I thought that was big gun, went back to a Blackhawk.  44 Man

Speaking of ugly, I was at the gun shop last night and saw a blued 357 Ruger Bisley with, I guess, a 7.5" barrel. Now that's ugly.

If you consider the SRH a good looking gun, I bet you think the Pontiac Aztek and the Honda Element are the VanGoghs of the automotive world :)

oh sure, the Ruger SRH is ugly. So is the warthog (A-10), but they are both beautiful if you are on the right side of them when there's trouble!

There are good technical and practical reasons for the A10 to be ugly, but there's no technical reason for the SRH to be ugly, except maybe to simplify manufacturing.

Super Redhawks are ugly guns... it doesn't have good lines.

Now a Redhawk or the Blackhawk hunter is a different thing.

If they did that, that gun would weigh more than the 3.5 lbs. it already is.  Besides, I like the looks of my 454 SRH, and it performs great.  It's accuracy at least at 50yds. is good, but I haven't found the load it likes the most, but all-around it shoots with reasonable accuracy.  If I were to hunting boars, or in bear country, that would be my sidearm of choice.  I also think the barrel shroud not going the whole length of the barrel would make it easier to holster and un-holster in a hunting situation.  Lastly, they look like a RUGER.  Just like a 700 ADL looks like a Remington; at least, that is my opinion. :D   Patriot

Between the looks of the SRH and the patented Ruger recoil amplification system that other brands don't seem ot have, I've stayed away from them. And then there's that cadaver gray finish they use on the 454. Who thought of that?
