Dear Seeds,
I would start with the standard 7-08 loading data and work up from there. As I have no idea what or whose barrel you are using I hesitate to give out my loads. I got the best combination of accuracy/velocity with IMR 4350 in my rifle. This was with the 140 Sierras and the 139 Hornady bullets. Hope this helps a bit.

Varget shoots o.k. in mine, but 4064 does a little better. Its shooting about .8 inch groups right now but I hope to improve on that with some testing this spring.

Why not just acquire a 7x57? In a strong modern rifle a 7x57 can be handloaded to 2900fps with a 140 gr. bullet, 2800fps with a 150. I recieved a custom pre 64 Model 70 7x57 for CHRISTmas (My second in this caliber) and am working up loads with both a 140 Accubond and a 150 Scirocco. I'll shoot whichever gives the best accuracy.

Your brand new 7X57 can be treated to the Ackley conversion and it will astound you!

Buffalogun, No chance. If I need the ballistics of a 7x57 Improved I will break either the .280 or 7Mag out of the gun safe. There is just something about a pre-64 Winchester custom stocked with a nice stick of walnut in 7x57.
