I got my Contender carbine last month and have no spare time anymore... nor spare ca$h... I got a .223 and a 30-30 bbl for it. The .223 has a used scope on it; last time I shot it (yesterday) it held 1 1/4 " at 100 yards with factory ammo!!!! The guys on the firing line were impressed, to say the least!
I also shot the 30-30 barrel yesterday. Over open sights, it kept printing to the right of the bullseye! I kept cranking the windage to the left with no results! :? THEN I remembered :!: some old lore re. the sun on the front sight: The side the sun shines on (and glints off of) creates the illusion that the front sight needs to be corrected TOWARD the "sunward" side!
One question: Have any of you guys had problems with weak firing pin strikes? I had problems with the 30-30, not firing; about 6 rounds out of 40 misfired; some fired after the 2nd or 3rd try, and one didn't fire at all!
(May be the ammo: the faulty stuff is from the range, and when I buy good stuff from a dealer, I have no problems.) But I'd like to hear of any other problems you may have experienced with weak hammer strike.
