i have a savage bolt action  that was my grandfathers  so i do  love the gun  but would  or should i say need to get a scope on it   to hunt with it  the  sights i just cant see unless its perfect light   does and one know much of this  gun that may help me out ?

Sounds like you have a Savage 23C. Really neat little rifles! Probably the easiest way to scope those is a two piece Weaver rail. I'd recommend taking it to a good gunsmith to have it drilled and tapped and scope bases fitted. Be aware though that the value of those rifles is increasing quickly. If it's a nice original example then putting a scope on it is going to kill its value. You have to make your own decision on that one.

im not concerned  with value its more that my grandfather  had it  it is not a 1 shape as far as the stock goes i just need to be able  to shot in low light in the woods  and  pass it on to one of my boys or girls  i have  my oldest  who i hope will hunt  this next year  and i know it will be the perfect gun for her  for closer range  med game
