Hi, I have several Tikka's and like them. Have a friend who shoots the .338 version and it hurts. But the .338 is about one third more recoil than the .300 quite a difference. Still though the .300 packs a punch. I do shoot a .300 Sig at about 7 3/4 lbs and the recoil is very manageable, even nonexistant when shooting game. Very good caliber. I would get the wood blued version, not because of the recall on some serial number, but because I have both and prefer the wood blued.
