45 acp tracker
« on: December 11, 2004, 08:00:03 AM »
just picked up a 45 acp tracker 5 1/2 in stainless.guy was hard up for money this thing is nib condition, uncle mikes holster, two boxes of hp's for $200.seems like it's going to be a nice little shooter.only prob is the extractor doesn't catch the rebated rim on the cases, you need to pluck out the empty's one by one.kinda've a pita.anyone have any expeirience with these.this is my third tracker i have one in 357,blue and a 17 ss,last year my wife bought me the 480 raging bull ss,man i love that thing,i shoot 412 grn cast bullets at 1150 fps, very manageable.i've fired over 500 rnds. through it without a hitch.i think taurus has the market cornered on this price handgun, hope the quality of production continues.

Does the 45acp tracker use half-moon clips or something like that?

45 ACP Tracker (Steller)

I have the 4" 45 ACP and Mine shoots hard cast bullets very well . I like 6.0/231/200CSW and mine shoots that load better than I can. The thing uses Taurus's moon clips , buy extra they are a little weak but very easy to use. My gun will not clear auto rim brass and it doesn't clear by a couple of .001"s wonder if the recoil shiled can be machined back a couple of .001's to be able to use 45 AR brass?

By the way you got a good deal on the Tracker ! I know other people have had trouble with them but I have 4 and not trouble with any of them.

They can be ordered from Taurus , come in packs of 5 I believe. I have not ruined any of mine yet but they bend very easy and I'm sure one will go down the tubes pretty soon because I have a coupel that will hold brass but not tightly.
