« on: December 10, 2004, 05:52:20 AM »
I'm looking to buy a new hunting pistol in 45colt, i've been debating over a tracker or  a blackhawk.the problem with the blackhawk is scope mounting, can it be done? The ruger website don't say nothing about it.
but you can mount an a tracker! All this taurus hate i've read about here makes me nervous!

.45 Colt Tracker? Had one. Single worst peice of crap I've ever owned I believe. See my various posts on it here in this forum. It's the Model 460 and most of the threads mention that I think. No more use than this forum gets they should still be on the first page. Get the Ruger.

I honestly don't know enough about the Ruger's to know what is and isn't available for them. That's a question better asked on the Ruger Forum or one of the more general handgun forums.

BTW that M460 of mine is still on the shelf at the shop I traded it back to monts later. He hasn't found a sucker...er I mean buyer yet.

Scope Mount for Blackhawk
« Reply #5 on: December 30, 2004, 04:46:44 AM »
Weaver makes a no-drill scope mount for the blackhawk. It isn't cheap, but I had one on my .41 blackhawk and it worked fine. I think there are some others who make mounts that are no-drill as well, but I'm not sure who they are. The only thing I didn't like about a scope on the blackhawk is that it made the thing way too bulky, but I used it for NRA Pistol Silhouette so I needed the scope. If you go with the larger calibers like .41 mag., .44 mag. or heavy .45 Colt loads be sure to get a quality scope. I first had a Tasco on my .41 mag. and it self-destructed in about 50 rounds.
