Anybody have any experience with these? I bought a 2000 manufactured one a couple months ago but have only gotten about 300 rounds through it. So far I like it a lot but I was wondering if anybody had any long term experience.

I bought the wife a model 85ssprl which is pretty much the same gun, with the exception of your's being a 7 shot and her's being a 5 shot. I bought it new last Christmas and now it has close to 1200 rounds through it, no problems. I have personally seen many problems within this particular line of revolvers, however your's being a 2000 model year gun I suspect it will be a fine shooter.
These problems you hear about with Taurus seem to have cropped up within the last 1.5 to 2 years..... :D

thats good to know, I'm actually real happy with this gun and do like the extra couple shots. that and the recoil is not as bad as i'd been led to believe with the lighter guns.

I have a Taurus® Mdl 617SS2 manufactured in 2003. I received the gun as a birthday gift from my wife in May of 2003. I've shot in excess of 2000 rounds of 357 through it without a hiccup or manfunction of any kind. Thinking of getting a Mdl 817UL for the wife & switching the hammer to CH.

They are great guns IMHO.

dawei, I didn't mean to imply that everything Taurus produced in the last couple years is bad. I bought one almost exactly 1 year ago and it turned out to be a fine gun, however I had to have that one ordered, and I refused the first one that came in due to a severe ring around the cylinder and it didn't lock up tight.
The quality seems to be hit or miss and it seems like this started within the last couple years..... :D

I have ordered a few Taurus (even a few rossi) over the years and I think the quality is actually getting much better during the last 2 years.  They may never be a S&W but for the price they are very good. My opinion.
