Finding Minnesota rabbits?
« on: December 07, 2004, 10:52:04 AM »
This is my first year rabbit hunting in central Minnesota. So far I am having some trouble finding patterns that work. I'm hunting marshy areas and edges and thick vegetation.  When we had some snow on the ground I found a spot that had tracks so I know they're there. The problem seems to be the time of day I am hunting: late afternoon. Do you have any tips you can share? I am using a beagle. But between him still being a puppy and me not knowing much about rabbit hunting we're not doing too well yet.

Thanks for any insight you can give.

try to jump up a "hot" rabbit and put your dog on the scent. it would be easier if you access to an older dog for a few times out to show your young dog what its all about. just keep going and dont give up. eventually that lightswitch in their brain gets flipped and then the fun starts :-D .
