Rifle rests
« on: December 04, 2004, 07:01:16 AM »
Interested in a rest called the Lead Sled. After doing some research on this model, it seems it cannot be a adjusted for windage. The rest has the ability to put sand bags and dampen the recoil quite a bit, according to the literature. Can anyone attest to this? Also, looked through the Cabelas catalog and they have  a Shooter Ridge deluxe rest and a power aisle sighting rest that I might be inbterested in. These do not show the ability to put sand bags on them but do they work as well as dampening the recoil as the Sled? These two have windage adjustments. Thanks for any information.

The lead sled has a back to it where the butt of the rifle rests on.. Having this there doesn't allow the rifle to recoil naturally (abruptly stopping it) and if you sight it in this way then you better bring the lead sled with up to the deer stand when hunting  :-D Your shooting off the sled and shooting off regular bags may or may not be different.. I would recommend a Hoppes front adjustable rest:

...and rear bag.  I have been using the Hoppes for quite some time now and works great.
