New Tikka Continental Varmint 223
« on: November 26, 2004, 03:52:06 AM »
Well I have been searching for one of these ever since I saw one in the field.  It is no longer made but is a beautiful wood stock 26" heavy barrel, Sako barrel in a 223.  The best part is the accuracy. We set up a 200 yd target and the owner popped off a 1" group, Black Hills remanufactured ammo.  Hell I shot it and hit the bullseye 2 for 2 and I am an average to poor bench shooter.  Hope to get better!  I am sure the new T3 Varmints are fine guns but I am old school and like Walnut and Blue.  I feel like a teenager who just got his first deer rifle!!  I thought I maynot find one, have been looking for sometime.

The  twist  rate is 1-12.  I thought the 45-50-52gr. , should hit it in the sweet spot.  This was very difficult to find one NIB.  I have the same action 595 in a 308 Whitetail Hunter smooth as silk!  Someday I would like to try a CZ but everytime I look at a gun I end up getting a Tikka.  I don't care that much about the twist rate because the gun is for target practice and hunting prairie dogs and coyotes and any of them would probably work.  Just love that Walnut and Blue barrel.  Buckfever
