5 HUNTERS KILLED!

Well, itÂ’s started!!  Talk about banning semi-auto rifles first then semi-auto shotguns and lastly semi-auto handguns.  Check this out;

Next will be all repeating firearms.  Lawdog

there are a few sad things that happened here.first , the gun control nazis have something new to use in their crusade to save us.second, originally there were 5 killed and 3 wounded.now its 6 dead and 2 wounded.it sounds as though those 2 will survive.their story is a bit different than Vang's.the part of racial slurs and the group firing first do not exist in their story.i wasn't there so i don't know.there is quite a bit of public hunting land in Wisconsin.i should know, i use it.if you run into hunters or tree stands or a no trespassing sign, there are plenty of other places to go.lastly i hunt a county or 2 from where this tragedy happened so it hits way too close to home.

Before we all panic over the semiautomatic rifle thing, could somebody tell me why, in God's green earth, any Deer Hunter would need a 20 shot clip?  In my home state of Missouri you are limited to 11 rounds.  Nobody seems to think their rights are being violated.  Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing the clip size reduced to 5 or even 3 (the way we do shot guns.) Why, one of the most dangerous parts of any deer hunt happens when some idiot unloads a clip at a running deer he has already missed, putting everybody in next county at risk.

I think it is about time hunters began to act responsibly and with common sense on these issues.  The old domino theory only helps both the anti-firearm nuts and the "leaders" of the pro-gun movement both of whom make money promoting a total lack of common sense.

When I was a kid the NRA used to be a leader in promoting responsible shooting.  Now they seem only interested in collecting donations to fight the anti-gun crowd.

Does anybody know if alcohol is involved with this incident.  That is something we need to really crack down on during hunts.  A drunk hunter is not a pretty sight.  At least one of the posts above, that didn't involve a shoot out, seems to have involved drinking.

dont worry- i got him.

he now has an email in his inbox:

I read your piece in the Captial Times, dated today. I strongly hope you will reconsider your views on this subject. Once again, the media has missed the boat. All logic and hope of creating a logical and peaceful society goes out the window the instant we start shifting the blame to the gun and away from the criminal.
If crime were simply the rational response of a human to the apparent inherent evils of a semiautomatic gun, then I submit that this type of story would have occurred all over the globe many millions of times.
Your facts are skewed as well, showing both your apparent ignorance toward firearms and hunting, and your liberal view of governmental systems.
NO ONE, EVER, can use a fully automatic gun in hunting. I wrote for a newspaper for years and before I wrote something like this I always checked my sources and looked up related laws. You didn't. You let your biases and anti-gun opinions invade your editorial. You saw an opportunity to add in "automatic" for effect and you did it. Congratulations. You've managed to shock and offend and motivate the mindless syncophants who make up the special interest groups who love to control everyone else through legislation.
Perhaps, during your vacation down the yellow journalism brick road, you could have pointed out that millions of people use semi-automatic guns, such as duck hunters and rabbit hunters, and that they are only allowed 3 shells in the gun, not 20 like Vang had. Maybe you could have said we need to be firm in our courts and not allow peple with criminal records to hunt, or even said that Mr. Vang should go to jail for a long long time so that he is made an example of. Instead you enacted the playground mentality wherein all peoples of a grou get punished and their toys get taken away because of one person's selfish actions and criminal intent.
While you're at it, maybe you could add that we shouldn't hunt at all since we have McDonalds, and that it was most likely the dead people's fault since they *gasp* called Vang names (that apparently were pretty correct, as we now see his behavior reflecting those stereotypes).
You wrote an editorial, an opinion piece. I know you have the right to your opinion and I would stand beside you to the death to defend this right. However when you fire up your word processor next time, give a damn enough to do some Nexis searches, make some phone calls, and try not to further make an ass of yourself.
I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

Today I find out from a local that Mr. Vang has 40 acres of his own land in the area of WS where this incident took place!!!  He was and is not new to the area.  Also there seems to be a much larger problem with people trespassing on land in this area.  Some have been kicked off, the same people, 3 or more times.  It doesn't appear that this was a once chance happening!  Where are the other 2 people that were supposedly hunting with Mr. Vang and their car???   This is going to be unraveling over time and the court case.  Buckfever

There are nuts in the world.  There are people who drive like maniacs to gain 2 seconds on the highway, and who will hurt you just because they can.  Most are not honorable, so even if you "win" the confrontation, your family and property can be endangered.  The murderer has ruined his own life, and the lives of his family.  The victims are dead, or their lives are ruined, as are the lives of their families.
