I would have to say,IMHO,it would not be the best bullet to use. It is soft and will most likely, blow up,once thru the hide.I've seen deer shot with varmit bullets, they died, but had this huge blood blister, around the outer layer of meat.Go with a 90 or 100 grain slug. These put a big hurt on a deer.

josebd,

The 65 gr. Hornady V-Max was designed to expand on critters the size of ground squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs, etc. and not on deer.  Chances are the bullet would never reach the vitals.  Go with a good 100 gr. Nosler Partition(or whatever) for hunting deer size game.  You’ll take home more venison that way.  Lawdog

Congrats on your success. My son and I use 100gr Core-Lokts with good results.

I don't have a 243, but I do have a 244 (6mm Remington) and believe the 100 grain bullet is the very bottom of "right" choices for deer.  Anything very much lighter is just plain unethical.  Too much chance of just injuring and not killing the deer the deer outright.

Winchester list them in their online catalog, I know Cabel's will special order just about anything so will Midway USA. Bet if you give either one a call they will be gald to take your money. BTY I load Barnes TSX 85g in my .243WSSM A-bBolt. The Winchester product number for the bullet is:
SHV2432
Love those .41s'

I buy my 100 gr Power points at WallMart.  Seems like they always have them in stock and I'm not in a rifle hunting state.
