Remington 700 caliber conversion?
« on: November 14, 2004, 07:54:24 AM »
Anyone know how hard it would be to convert a Remington 700 BDL in .223 to another caliber?  would consider all the way from .204 Ruger to 257range.

Thanks

With the small bolt face, theres not a lot to chose from.Your probably better off getting another gun.

With 204 Ruger it's a simple rebarrel. For 257 Bob or other '06 based cases you'll have to open up the bolt as well and possibly deal with the magazine. I personally wouldn't do a 257 on a short action, since you have to seat the bullets so deep. But you can pretty much make it any caliber you desire, as long as the cases aren't too long to eject an empty.
