A forty-eight ounce gun in 480 Ruger is gonna be a handful, but if you need it in a hurry, you'll probably never notice the recoil.  Off a bench, however, it might get your attention pretty quick!

Not to knock Ruger, but despite their claim, I can think of other revolvers that would be quite practical in this use.

Since I already reload for a Freedom Arms 454 Casull I guess the only thing to do is to get this gun and have a ball!!

Some Rugers are not very accurate - that's all I can say. And in the case of these SRHs I'd say they missed with both of them :) ; the first version is too large, this one too small. (Actually, the big one is probably fine for distance scoped hunting.) If they had come out with a full shroud 4" SRH in 480 right off the bat they would have had something and a heck of a useful platform for their new cartridge.

I got tired of waiting on Ruger to build some of the obviously useful versions of their revolvers for their new cartridge. I own a 480 alright, but it's not a Ruger. What a great cartridge though.

I would love to own more Rugers but their stances and views as to what THEY think civilians should be allowed to have prevent it. I bought a GP100 when they first came out and haven't bought Ruger since.
