Any Ruger 96/44 shooters out there?
« on: November 04, 2004, 04:20:47 AM »
I have a ruger 44 for my wife to use. She fears any recoil and is perfectly comfortable with this gun. She has taken 2 nice bucks with it and is now very comfortable using it. I installed a red-dot sight to make aiming it easier for her. It is a sweet little gun, very accurate and works great in heavy cover. The  issues of loading and unloading are an advantage and it does not have a hammer which makes it a very safe weapon for a novice gun handler.

The Marlin/Winchester type can be carried with a round in the chamber on half cock or with the hammer down, fast to cock on acquiring a target. Don't know about the Ruger but consider the Marlin 1894PG I have an accurate rifle for the stock open sights. I like my Marlin. I hope you are happy with whatever you choose.
