Gonna make my own scout mount
« on: October 22, 2004, 07:09:18 AM »
Just ordered the parts from Brownells today to make my own XS Sights type scope mount for my '94 Big Bore.

Cannot see paying $55 plus shipping.  Parts are less than $18 so far and I have to get the front receiver ring drilled and tapped (Had to anyway with the XS), so that is a wash.

I plan on posting all the info in an article on my web sight, once parts arrive.  I plan on mounting my red dot scope up front.

I know others have done similar things so it should all work out.

I did this with a NEF Handi-rifle.  I used the Burris scout base for the Remington 700.  It involved drilling & tapping the barrel which cost me $30 at  Pioneer Gunshop in Ketchikan.  Several photos are posted on the NEF Singleshot group in Yahoo.

Hey Winter Hawk
I was at your homestead this August.  Well, not your house but your town.  Nice place you got there.  On a cruise and stopped in for a visit.  I'd like to take my sons back for a fishin trip some summer.

Can't wait to hear how it turns out.  I think a red dot would be quite effective on the old .30-30.

Or .375BB
