I'm looking to buy a new deer rifle for my wife. She found a beautiful 7mm-08 "Kimber" bolt action rifle she really likes. I've never heard of this brand before and I'm concerned about it's accuracy and reliability more than it's looks. Does anyone have any information to help me out?

I don't think you will go wrong with a Kimber rifle. My personal experience is with a model 84 in .308. It is very accurate and well made. Others, that I know, that have Kimbers report the same with their rifles. When I removed the action from the stock for an initial cleaning and lubeing I found it both glass and piller bedded. It was the neatest bedding job that I have ever seen on a factory rifle.
Take another look at it. You might like it.

Visit www.kimberamerica.com . Kimbers receive almost universal praise, and my next bolt action may well turn out to be a Kimber chambered for the 260.

For the price that's involved, I 'd get my wife a catalog of either Remington or Ruger and buy her one of those that she'd like. I think they may be good rifles....but I seriously doubt they're worth the difference. Take her out to dinner, etc. with the money saved and she'll like that, too.

My buddy has an 84M Montana in 7mm-08---with a Kahles 2x7x36 and lightweight Talley ring mounts that tips the scale at 6lbs 2oz. It feels like a toy its soooooooooo light. He STILL hasn't shot it yet---so no comment on accuracy.

Then just this last weekend -----I put an 8400 Super America in .270 WSM on lay-a-way------VERY NICE!!! The dealer said only 100 of these were made in .270WSM and only 150 made in .300WSM ----not sure if this was BS or not-----but the Kimber web page said they were only made in limited numbers. I'll give more details when I finally get it out.

Excellent quality. I say if that's what she wants and you can afford it then buy her what she wants.
