iv found that the new trigger system that marlin is using to be very "harsh" by harsh i mean that there is alot of trigger movement before it actually breaks and fires the gun.so if your not worried about how the trigger feels then go for it.i have an older marlin model 25 and the trigger on that is SWEET very light pull and very accurate.so if you can find a older marlin then that would be your best bet.

good luck!

I bought one from Walmart a few months back. There are things I like and don't like. The first thing is the trigger. I did a quick spring job on mine and it works great. The next is the stock. I wish it had a wood stock the plastic one makes to much noise it the woods on limbs and vines etc. But as long as you can advoid walk though those places it is very light. The next thing is it is very accurate. I shoot between a 1/2 inch and 1 inch grouping with bulk cheap ammo. it shoots a better grouping with more expensive ammo. I put a 4X12X40 Bushnell scope on mine it works greater with it. I also Like that it is I can shoot Shorts longs and long rifle bullets though it. Last weekend I went squirrel hunting and I don't know what was wrong with me but I was shooting at a squirrel at fifty yards at it head and shot 6 times. the bullets kept hitting next to its head it would look around but it didn't seemed bothered by the sound of the the shots. I don't think you could do that with a .22 mag or shot gun or .17hmr. Side note the sixth shot hit perfect once a calmed down and took my time taking the shot. So the only problems I have with it is the stock and the trigger. The trigger is easily fixed and the stock I guest you just have to live with.  Or if anyone out there knows how to obtain a stock for cheap or make one let me know. thanks. Hope this helped have any other questions email me at sschutt@clemson.edu
